In March 1994, the life of promising presidential candidate Luis Donaldo Colosio was cut short at a campaign rally in Tijuana. Having pledged to reform the country's Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), Colosio inspired hope in millions of Mexicans, but also drew the attention of the cartels and those who hoped to maintain the status quo -- sparking countless rumors and conspiracy theories about his death.
